Heather Thelaner LMFT
Hi, I am a strengths based therapist, who wants to help you be the expert of your life. I take a family systems approach which means I view you in the context of your environment as well as an individual. My goal is helping you to identify your strengths, help to overcome barriers and work to accomplish goals that you have in mind.
I feel humbled in the work that I am able to do on a daily basis in helping people navigate the struggles this world offers. Being an African- American woman I can relate and identify with systemic barriers and working on how to navigate them daily. I believe that healing and recovery happens within our community/network and I hope to be able to help you live the life you have dreamed of.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you think we may be a good fit working together.
Warmly,
Heather
Tawanna Dial, MHLT.
Tawanna’s favorite things to do in the whole world are smile, and high five. Awesome was probably her first word, and she uses it to describe anyone and everyone – because what gets her out of bed in the morning are the people that make this world move, and she’s on a mission to help them move it. Tawanna has been an athlete, a teammate, a coach, a therapist and a parent. Not to mention a Licensed therapist and a school counselor.
EMOTIONAL FITNESS
EMOTIONAL intelligence is a combination of life experiences coupled with learning and stages of development.
EMOTIONAL fitness is where you rank in the individual steps of dealing with these experiences.
Many people have skipped certain stages due to their families, traumas or isolation.
Allow ECW to help you identify where & recognize the WHY and find resources to begin the process of correcting.
Stage one
Elementary and middle schools
We focus on the early stages of emotional intelligence to introduce the class and its function of how these different emotions work for the individual.
Stage One & Two
Athletes and parents
Identify the different types of emotional intelligence while recognizing signs of insufficiency and addressing each individually or refer to outside resources.
(like one would for a school subjects or health concerns).
Stage One, Two & Three
Athletic trainers
We will help this group understand how to identify different levels of emotional fitness. When insufficiency is beginning to be detrimental to both the individual & team or one specifically, referrals will be made to address the issues (similar to an injury).
When this is severe and the player cannot function as a team player because of an injury, (either it be physical or emotional) this can derail team chemistry, team philosophy thus making it impossible to get the most out of the individual.
Stage One, Two, Three & Four
Coaches
Stage four will be how injury affects the team and the individual, while playing and after playing. If the injury is not addressed it will, 1. Affect the rest of the student athletes career. 2. Affect the athletes ability to make a living for themselves and live as productive citizens.
